Foster, adoptive, and kinship parents are giving and compassionate people, so much so that a consistent problem is not taking time away from stressors to recharge and connect — with themselves, their significant other and families like theirs — which often leads to...
• Burnout/Poor self-care
• Marriage stress
• Feeling isolated/disconnected
• Quitting foster care
During our time as foster parents, and now as parents to five forever children, we’ve come to understand how important date nights and trips are for us in our journey — for ourselves and as a couple — and want to offer that opportunity to others in the foster care, adoption, and kinship community.
Founded in 2020, at Teaghlach Ranch we offer a time away for renewal and connection with a weekend away in the Texas Hill Country. Parents will stay in a private tiny house where they can enjoy rest and relaxation. They will have time to connect with themselves, their significant other, and families similar to theirs. Each weekend kicks off with a happy hour for parents to connect and share experiences — stories and feedback are vital to our mission. Then they rest and recharge via hiking, wine tasting, horseback riding or relaxing in a hot tub, plus quiet dinners at a myriad of Fredericksburg restaurants.
Though construction continues to build our own retreat center in the Texas Hill Country outside of Fredericksburg, we didn’t want to wait to serve our community, so we began sending parents on getaways in January 2022 with our Weekend in Fredericksburg Program! We are partnering with local hospitality groups in town and using their tiny house accommodations.
During our time involved in this community we have had the opportunity to meet many people that share the same heart to help and have resources that can be put to use towards this vision, providing a no cost / low-cost experience for the foster parents.
We have the empathy, knowledge, and resources to provide a first-class experience.
Our amazing team of regulars and part-time volunteers are committed to helping others. We take our convictions and turn them into action, while providing space and privacy. We are dedicated to helping all guests leave rested, recharged and reconnected to continue with their amazing work.
A nonprofit is as strong as the community that holds it up. Together, we can do more than we can do alone. Let's bring our abilities and passions together to affect real change. There are many ways to join us and support our mission.
